The environmental impacts of organic farming

Sweden has set the goal that 30 % of the farmland shall be organic by the end of 2030. Organic farming demands however more land at the same time as a more efficient use for land is called for due to an increasing demand for food and biofuels. An important task is therefore to determine whether the environmental benefits from organic farming compensates its costs in terms of land use.

In this project we therefore conduct a literature survey in order to map the state of knowledge about organic farming and environmental benefits. The survey can be used in a future economic analysis of Swedish organic farming.

The project will be completed in autumn 2021.
