Fisheries and tourism

The traditional fishing culture is often used by the Swedish tourism industry as an attribute to market coastal regions. However, modern fisheries are different from traditional ones and many coastal vessels have left the industry, leaving harbors without an active fishery. This project analyses if fisheries’ attributes such as vessels and local landings affect tourists’ valuation of a harbor. The analysis is conducted in two coastal municipalities; one on the east coast and one on the west coast. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are used.

The project is in collaboration with the Department of Architecture and Built Environment at Lund University. The project will be finalised in spring 2021.
