Does the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy promote the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals?

The UN’s 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set the agenda for economic and social development as well as environmental protection for the coming decade. Agriculture is crucial for achieving these goals. EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) will be reformed after 2020, and the European Commission has communicated through “The Green Deal” that CAP must be consistent with these goals. In this project we analyse the distribution of all CAP payments to determine the extent that they contribute to achieving CAP’s own goals as well as the SDGs. The project is in collaboration with LUCSUS and will be finished in 2021.
