The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) gives firms in the Swedish fisheries, aquaculture and fish processing sectors the opportunity to apply for investment support. The purpose of the support is to stimulate investments that increase firm profitability and competitiveness. The EMFF also gives start-up aid to establish new aquaculture production.

In this project AgriFood analyzes the effects of the investment support in terms of firm profitability and employment. The focus is on firms in the fish processing and aquaculture industries. The project also examines the development of fish production, employment and profitability in newly established aquaculture firms receiving start-up aid. The evaluation is commissioned by the Swedish Board of Agriculture and will be published in the autumn of 2022.
